Combining the match winner market with another permutation is a great way to boost the odds of any single bet. The most popular combination is match winner and both teams to score BUT you can also do match winner and over/under 2.5 goals (as well as 1.5, 3.5 and 4.5 if you know where to bet).
We’ve researched and compared the top bookmakers and come up with a list of the best bookmakers for match winner and over/under goals bets. Some offer more options than others so be sure to read the list carefully:

How the Match Winner and Over/Under Goals Betting Market Works
We’ve given you a list of betting sites with match winner and over/under 2.5 goals betting on offer now you need to understand exactly how the bet works. We’ll do my best to explain that to you below.
When you place a bet on the Match Result and Over/Under market, you are in effect placing a bet on two events happening. You are predicting what the match result will be (either a win for the home team, or the away team, or the match to end in a draw) as well as how many goals will be scored in the game (over or under the stated amount).
Winner and Over/Under 2.5 Example:
So if you wanted to place this bet on a match between Manchester United and Arsenal, the bookmaker would present you with the following options, with the odds shown next to them.
- Manchester United & Over 2.5 Goals
- Arsenal & Over 2.5 Goals
- Draw & Over 2.5 Goals
- Manchester United & Under 2.5 Goals
- Arsenal & Under 2.5 Goals
- Draw & Under 2.5 Goals
As you can see, there are six options available for the bet and all you need to do is select which of the six options you want to back.
If the bookmaker you are using offers them, similar options will be available on the Match Result and Over 1.5, 3.5 and 4.5 goals markets, although the odds would be adjusted to reflect the chances of each bet.
So for the example above, if you placed a bet on Manchester United to win and over 4.5 Goals to be scored, you would expect that to be of a much higher odds than the over 1.5 or 2.5 goals option.
Market Rules
The key rule about this bet is that while you are placing just one stake on the bet, you need two outcomes to occur in order for the bet to win, so in effect it is a very similar bet to a double bet.
That means that the golden rule for this bet is that you need both outcomes to be correct, if you are to receive a return.
So…
Like in the example above… if you bet on Manchester United to win and there to be over 2.5 Goals in the game, if Manchester United win 2-0, then your bet would lose. However if they win 3-0 or 2-1, or any other favourable scoreline consisting of more than 2.5 goals, then your bet would win.
Similarly, if the game finished in a 2-2 or 3-3 draw. Even though your over 2.5 Goals prediction was true, your bet would lose as Manchester United did not win.
Other than this, there is no real confusion with this type of bet as it is based on two simple facts, the match result and how many goals were scored.
*Extra time is not included should it be played – your bet is for the full match plus any injury time.
