The Best Mario Balotelli Betting Specials & Odds

BalotelliOh my god an actual blog post right… I know, it’s been a while but with Super-Mario back in the Premier League I couldn’t resist a look at the various different Mario Balotelli betting specials and odds now popping up everywhere.

He might be as mad as two boxes of frogs and his errant behaviour make Luis Suarez look positively angelic, but there’s no doubt that the public love him. How can you not?

Balotelli endeared as well as infuriated Manchester City fans in his first spell in England, in addition to amusing fans of almost every other club. Whether it was doling out cash to City fans from his car the day after City had beaten United in the Premier League, setting fireworks off in his bathroom, revealing his “Why Always Me?” t-shirt after scoring at Old Trafford, or just continually arguing with every manager he has ever worked with, Balotelli and controversy are not unfamiliar bedfellows.

So with Balotelli’s return to the Premier League now confirmed let’s take a look at the various, sometimes insane, betting markets available on the big man.

Paddy Power – Mario Balotelli Special Bets

Perhaps no player more than Mario Balotelli is better suited to Paddy Power’s offbeat and occasionally controversial betting specials, so it is no surprise that the Irish bookmaker are quick off the mark with five specials on the Italian international.

However, disappointingly, they are all somewhat sensible bets:

  • To be sent off this season
  • To score 11 or more goals this season
  • To be sent off against Man Utd this season
  • To either score or get sent off on debut

He is also available at 14/1 to be the top scorer in the Premier League this season… but for me the 10/11 on him being sent off in a Premier League game in 2014/2015 looks the license to print money in that lot at Paddy Power.

5/6 on him scoring 11 or more Premier League goals this campaign doesn’t look a bad bet either.

You can get 12/1 against him being sent off vs Manchester United, which while a bit of a long shot, would make for a fantastic script to his Premier League return. Based on current antics at Old Trafford though you might be better off backing him to score a hat-trick against the Reds than see red this season.

Mario Balotelli Over/Under Premier League Goals 2014/15

If you are looking for a sensible bet (which is a rarity in Balotelli’s case), then BetVictor have come up with a number of Under/Over bets for the number of goals Balotelli will score in the Premier League in 2014/2015.

You can back Over/Under 7.5, 9.5, 11.5, 13.5, 15.5, 17.5 and 19.5 goals with the highest price a 5/1 shot on Balotelli scoring 20 Premier League goals this season (click here for full odds on Betvictor website – in player specials section).

That doesn’t seem particularly generous odds considering that Balotelli is now sure to miss at least the first two games of the season for Liverpool and that when he signs, he will actually secure a place in the team.

Then of course you have to factor in the Balotelli-madness factor of the likelihood of him being sent off, arguing with the manager, team mates or opposition fans. Or perhaps just turning up at a women’s prison for a visit on the spur of the moment, as he did when at Milan.

Life’s never dull when Mario is around.

One thing is for certain though, Balotelli’s return to the Premier League may look like a gamble, but £16m for a player of his talent could well be the bargain of the season. The question is whether Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers can handle the Italian, however no club may be better positioned to do so.

After all, after Luis Suarez (17.0 to be sent off on debut for Madrid), keeping Mario Balotelli under control may be a walk in the park.
