Betting Review & Available Markets
Betfair offers an outstanding range of betting markets across a wide range of sports. You can access the most popular sports such as horse racing, football, darts, tennis, rugby, golf and similar sports direct from the Quick Links menu.
Click on the small black arrow on the left hand side of the screen to bring up the full list if sports in an A-Z format and you’ll find a host of sports to bet on including Bandy, Chess, Gaelic Games, Netball and even politics.
However, there are not quite as many sports betting markets available as on other sites and there are some sports not listed on the Betfair site that are available on others, such as Pesapallo, Table Tennis, Pool and so on.
However, the number of markets available on the sports that Betfair does cover, is exceptional with a large number of bets available on most of the top events and generally, the odds on offer are towards the better value end of the market for punters.
Betfair Football Betting
In truth Betfair’s Football service isn’t quite as well organised as its horseracing service, but that may well be the nature of football in that there’s hundreds of games each day with lots of different markets available on these games.
It does become slightly harder to organise. Like most sites BetFair uses coupons to navigate across most football markets and it works well, although a large proportion of the main page is taken up by In Play markets.
In terms of markets for the big games, Betfair does score well with the top games having hundreds of potential bets available for them and even lesser games involving teams from other parts of the globe, having more than the average number of markets available to bet on.
- Double Odds on Winning Goalscorer Bets – Place a bet on selected Goalscorer bets for games taking place in European competition or the FA Premier League and Betfair will offer you Double the odds on selected winning goalscorer bets.
- Double the Profit on your first ever Cash Out – Cash Out a bet with Betfair, not necessarily on football, and if that bet makes a profit, Betfair will double the amount of profit you receive for your first Cashed Out bet.
Betfair Horse Racing Betting
Horseracing is one of the key markets for Betfair, as it is for all bookmakers operating in the UK and Betfair offer an excellent service.
You can use Quick Links to head to the horseracing section but there are a myriad of other links to major races and meetings taking place throughout the year on the site that make it easy to link to. Once into the site, everything is laid out logically to ensure that you can find the bets you want to make.
Clicking on the time of a race brings up the runners and riders and although the information on each of the runners looks a little sparse, running your mouse over the horse running will bring up additional information about the horse. Betfair’s horse racing service is simple, yet extremely effective and very user-friendly which is why it remains a popular choice for many UK-based punters.
Horse Racing Promotions
- Various promotions throughout the year – Betfair don’t offer any long-standing horse racing promotions, but what they do offer is a variety of offers throughout the year for specific meetings and races. For example, their Back A Winner Get A Free Bet promotion on all horses winning at 3/1 or better at the Cheltenham Festival 2017.
Betfair offers a number of live streams of sporting events throughout the day. The easiest method to find the list of sporting events being streamed live is to visit the In Play section and scroll through the different sports events there and those marked with a Play button are being streamed live.
The amount of events being streamed live by Betfair isn’t on a par with some other sites, but unlike others, at least they do carry live streams of sporting events, mainly tennis and football in the main, but other streams are carried when events are taking place.
These streams are free to any Betfair customer with a credit balance account, or who has placed a bet in the preceding 24 hours. However, to watch live streams of horseracing and greyhounds, you need to have placed a bet of £1 on the race in question to watch the stream live on your desktop or mobile.
Betfair Mobile App
Betfair have a dedicated app available for mobile customers that is available from the App Store for those that have an Apple iPad or iPhone and you can also download the Android version of the app to your device from the Mobile section of the Betfair site. One of the nice aspects of the Mobile version of the app is that you can choose additional sign up offers alongside the standard Bet £10 Get £30 worth of bets (although the additional offers are not as good value as the original).
Once installed on your device the Betfair app is easy to run and is very pleasing on the eye, although it would have been nicer to have had specific versions for smartphones and tablets to maximise the effectiveness of the app on each device.
What is good about the Betfair app?
The design of the Betfair app is excellent. It is easy to use and there is a good choice of promotions for new players signing up. You can access all the same markets and offers as anyone who visits the website and the user interface of the app is simple and easy to understand, even if you are a mobile betting novice.
Navigating to different sports is quick and easy with the app and adding bets and placing bets, even for In Play events is excellent. Furthermore, Betfair offers mobile customers the option to watch free live streams of several sports events each day, plus if you place a bet of £1 or more on a horse race or greyhound race, you can watch live streams of those races too.
What is not so great about the Betfair app?
The Betfair app is certainly one of the best designed mobile apps around and it allows you swift access to all betting markets. One small gripe is that there are a lot of links to other Betfair sites, such as the Casino and similar and it can be easy, especially on smaller screen devices, to accidentally click on these and that does get a little irritating
It is simple to find Betfair’s customer support services.
Click on the Help tab which is to the right of the Betfair logo on the front page and this will load up the entire Help console and from here you can navigate to a number of different sections to do with all aspects of running your account, such as Verifying your account, depositing and withdrawing money, help with bets and how to cash out a bet and many more.
If there is no simple solution listed in the Help Centre to resolve your problem, then you may need to contact Betfair. This is very easy to do as next to the two main Help tabs at the top of the page, Help Home and Help Topics is a Contact Us button. Click on this and you will discover the following ways you can contact Betfair:

Betfair Bonus Review
Betfair offers its customers a nice 300% Sign up bonus in the way of a free bet worth £30, when the customer places their first bet worth £10 with the company. This is one of the best value new player offers available at any sports book at the moment.
It is very easy to claim the bonus provided you follow some simple guidelines.
Our simple walkthrough below will take you through the process to sign up.

- Click on the Join Now or Claim Now button.

- Select a preferred method to deposit and deposit at least £10 into your Betfair account.
- Once your deposit is in your account, now head over to the Berfair Sportsbook and browse through the list of different sporting bets available. All you need to do is find a single bet you wish to make on a market that is even money (2.0) or better.
- Click on the odds to add the bet to your slip and then in the stake box enter £10. Click the Place Bet button and your qualifying bet has now been placed.
- After your bet is registered on the Betfair service, they will make your £30 free bet available to you a short time later.
Positive Points – Betfair has many good points. Its racing service is excellent and so easy to use, the football betting service is also very good if a little less accessible than the racing service and the number of markets available across all sports is very good.
They also cover emerging betting markets (such as esports) and their live streaming service covers a small amount of events well. The mobile betting service is particularly good from Betfair and their odds are generally excellent value.
What Needs to be Improved? – Where Betfair needs to improve is in the number of live streams it carries on a daily basis, which is considerably fewer than some of its competitor sites, albeit at least Betfair does carry live streams, as some sites still do not. Perhaps a little less emphasis on betting in play when designing menus and pages for sports would benefit the punter looking for the main games in the day rather than betting in play.
